The fair’s objective & sequence
The Islamic Center for Development of Trade (ICDT) has been entrusted with organizing the trade fair of Islamic countries once every two years in collaboration with one of the member states in compliance with the resolutions and recommendations relating to the economic cooperation among the OIC member states.
Within this framework, ICDT will organize the 12th Trade Fair of OIC Member Countries ( OIC –Expo 2009) from 11th to 16th October 2009 in collaboration with the General Organization for International Exhibitions & Fairs(GOIEF) under the theme
” New Economic Partnership in the Service of the Nation”
This fair will be organized in compliance with resolution no:1 paragraph 101 stipulated by the 23rd session of the standing committee for economic and commercial cooperation of the organization of the Islamic conference ( COMCEC) , held in Istanbul from 14th to 17th November 2007, in which it reaffirmed its decision to welcome favorably the Arab Republic of Egypt to host the 12th Trade Fair of OIC member countries (OIC-Expo 2009).
In this regard, it is worth underlining that the Islamic Center for Development of Trade has organized the 11th Trade Fair from 21st to 25th November 2007 in Dakar, in collaboration with the International Center for Foreign Trade of Senegal (CICES)under the auspices of the Senegalese Ministry of Commerce. This edition , which was held for first time in a sub –Saharan member state of the organization of Islamic conference, was attended by 650 enterprises from 32 countries of the OIC.
This fair is considered a promotional framework for trade, investment and inter-enterprise cooperation among the enterprises operating in the economic and commercial field in the member states. On these grounds, the fair is open to all the OIC member states and the economic operators of these states. This fair may also be attended by countries enjoying the status of observers as well as by Muslim economic operators of non- member countries.
Profile of exhibits
The Fair is of public nature it includes all kinds of commodities and services, During this fair, exhibitors may display products and services originating in the OIC member states, as defined by the national regulations of member states and should conform to the ethics and values of Islam.
Facilities and incentives under preferential tariffs on transport, freight, accommodation and transit will be granted to participants.

Egypt enjoys a unique location as a gate to Africa, the Middle East and Asia. It is also considered the linking ring that connects different civilizations
The Egyptian production is diverse as it includes agricultural and industrial production, tourist services in addition to mega- investment projects .
Egypt is also considered a fertile environment to host and to foster small and medium projects in addition to integral industries.
Egypt possesses comprehensive infrastructure in the field of holding and organizing exhibitions and conferences as the exhibition ground in Nasr city is situated between two of the most important streets in Cairo.
The total area of Egypt is over one million square kilometers
Its population exceeds 78.7 million.

Economic & Commercial Relations:
Egypt is considered one of the promising members in the Organization of Islamic Conference. It is also related to various economic gatherings through agreements and cooperation protocols thus enabling investment projects working in Egypt to have a package of advantages and opportunities in European markets , the United States , the Middle East and Africa.
It is worth mentioning that Egypt is an active member in many international organizations which play an effective role in international trade and world economy such as the World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, the Arab League and the African Union.
In November 2007, Egypt joined an international organization in promoting exhibition industry namely the Organization International d’ Expositions in Paris.
Egypt is also a member of Union des Fairs Internationals
“UFI”, Arab Union for Exhibitions & Conferences and International Association & Events in USA “IAEM”

According to statistics by The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and statistics (CAPMAS) 2006/2007
- Annual production rate reached 7.2%.
- Export products reached US$ 18.5 Billion.
- Non petroleum exports reached US$ 8.2 Billion
- Egyptian exports reached L.E.91.256 Billion
- Egyptian imports reached L.E.152.587 Billion
- Exports of free zones to the world reached L.E. 29.541 Billion
- Tourists visiting Egypt reached 9.8 millions annually
- Tourist income reached US$ 7.6 Billion
- Hotels , tourist villages reached 1370 units
- L.E.200 million were allocated to boost investment projects in upper Egypt in the fiscal year 2007/2008
- 250.000 feddans were prepared for cultivation.
