International Business Forum is a voluntarily-based, non-governmental platform for gathering of mostly Muslim business people from all over the globe where they try to stimulate trade, investment and co-operation.
This outstanding Forum was initiated by Pakistan Business Forum in September 1995 in Lahore, Pakistan, in which 600 businessmen from 23 Islamic countries took part. Having made a great progress, the 2nd IBF Congress was organized by MUSIAD between 20-22 November l996 in Istanbul, Turkey. 200 businessmen of 51 Islamic countries participated in the 2nd IBF.

The 13th International Business Forum is hosted by Cairo Chamber of Commerce and will be taking place at Cairo International Convention Center ( CICC) from 13-16 Oct. 2009 and it is expected that 3000 businessmen from  Islamic countries will participate in the this forum.

The idea behind IBF is to set up a “Global Business Network among Muslim Nations” providing a forum to identify and stimulate trade and mutual investment relationships among Muslim Businessmen throughout the world.

Objectives

·         To coin and utilize the Islamic ethical virtues among the conventional business life.

·         To direct and empower the commercial relationships in line with national principles & interests, co-operation among the members and among the member countries at regional and global level.

·         To enhance the commercial activities and to develop trade among the members and the member countries.
To provide the optimal use of the potentials which will be of complimentary nature in the member countries.

·         To promote trade and investment in the member countries.
To increase the joint-ventures in the member countries in trade and industry.

·         To promote joint-ventures and co-operation on manufacturing and trade projects among the member countries of the Forum.

·         To support the co-operation among the members vis-à-vis technology transfer, technical assistance, consultancy, education and transfer of the experience and know-how.

·         To assist with consultation-wise and institutionally to chambers of commerce and other similar organizations in order for them to modernize their practices in trade and industry field.

To give service and assistance to their members and increase their performance in their practice.

Workshop on Trade and Investment in the Cotton Sector in OIC Member States

In pursuance of Resolution No.1, Item 10, paragraph 7 of the 24^th Ministerial session of the COMCEC held in Istanbul in October 2008, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Islamic Center For Development of Trade (ICDT) in collaboration with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) will organize a workshop on Trade and Investment in the Cotton Sector in OIC Member States, in Cairo on 12^th – 13^th of October 2009 on the sidelines of the 12^th Trade Fair of the OIC Member States (12^th OIC / EXPO 2009, 11^th – 16^th October 2009).
